Capital Markets

Successful loan programs require understanding of the capital markets and the clients' needs.

The competitive price pressures of the marketplace demand affordable prices, while our clients' balance sheets demand an equitable return on the marketing investment. So the product's economics need to be balanced. We help our clients perform that balancing act.

Beyond product structuring, we serve as expert intermediaries between our clients and the capital markets. The structure of our loan programs - whereby our clients typically sell their loan assets - frees up the lending institution's capital, protects its balance sheet and converts the private loan market into a fee-based business. And by aggregating loans from many institutions, we achieve economies of scale that allow us to do far better for our clients than they could do for themselves.

As of June 30, 2007, First Marblehead has provided structural advisory and other services for 36 securitization transactions.
